MEETING WITH MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

NETWORKING


AJISO Executive Director exchanging ideas with the Executive Director of the Fondation for Civil Society in the Parliament grounds Dodoma. This event was held on June, 2009.

PARALEGAL MEETINGS


On July, 2009 AJISO conducted a Paralegal meeting at Mashati ward, Rombo district, Kilimanjaro region. The meeting was attended by 42 people who were Paralegal volunteers from Mashati villages. Each village send 2 Paralegal volunteers in consideration of gender. The meeting was very successfully and an Action Plan was made to guide activity implementation for a period ending December, 2009.

These Paralegal volunteers worked as reconciliators in their respective villages.

AJISO STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

1. To provide Legal Aid and Human Rights Awareness to poor women and
vulnerable groups in Community.

Strategies

  • Capacity building of community-based Paralegals and Humans Rights Activities.
  • Piggy backing routine village government and ward development committee meetings for awareness raising seasons.
  • Establish and run a Mobile Legal Aid Clinics for enhanced access to justice and legal advice.

2. Strategies

Social safety nets play an indispensable role in improving socio-economic positions of marginalized women.

Strategies

  • Network with Micro-Finance Institutions for capacity development of income generating groups.
  • Facilitate empowerment of socio-economic groups and caregivers of HIV/AIDS orphans and victims.

3. To improve participation of women and vulnerable groups in local governance.

  • The organization will provide civic education to influential women, female Ward Councilors, Ward and village government leaders.
  • Develop good working relations with different stakeholders.
  • Undertake reality check survey to establish level of women and vulnerable groups, participation in decision making bodies.

4. To advocate for better policies and laws that prevent gender based violences in society

  • Collaboration and networking with different organization with different organization nationally and internationally.
  • AJISO is active member of organization such as WIDAF

5. To strengthen Institutional capacity of the organization for sustainable development.

  • Develop good working relation with media, research institutions and likeminded civil society organizations.
  • To improve efficiency effectiveness and sustainability of AJISO.
  • The organization will undertake interventions geared towards improving its governance, programming, human resource management and resource mobilization.

AJISO is a non-governmental, not for - profit and non-partisan civil society organization which will promote human rights, access to justice and social economic empowerment of women and vulnerable children in Tanzania.

To promote standard of living among women and vulnerable groups in Tanzania.

To improve access to justice and socio-economic status of poor and marginalized.

ABOUT AJISO

AJISO is a non-governmental organization founded in 1998 by a group of 15 women from Moshi and Rombo districts located at Kilimanjaro region in the United Republic of Tanzania, East Africa.It is registered under the NGO section 12 (1) Act No. 24 of 2002. AJISO is not for profit, neither religious, non partisan to any political organization. Mainly the organization is formed to empower its members and women at large with information on social, human rights, the legal aspects and poverty alleviation.

Fro its inception, AJISO has been concentrating in Kilimanjaro region where network partners have been identified and contributed to the organization's successes to-date.
